Design Engineer

Qualifications:

• Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing and piping, and electrical distribution design principles
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform detailed calculations, load estimations, and energy simulations
• Familiarity with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, energy modeling tools) and cost estimation tools
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify design challenges and develop innovative solutions
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with project teams and clients
• Understanding of relevant building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines
• Professional engineering certification or accreditation is highly desirable

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development of conceptual designs for MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, based on project requirements and client needs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and preliminary analyses to evaluate design options, system capacities, and energy efficiency strategies.
• Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to develop accurate cost estimates for MEP systems, considering equipment, materials, labor, and installation requirements.
• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to identify design constraints, potential issues, and opportunities for optimization.
• Perform calculations and simulations to size and select appropriate MEP equipment, components, and distribution systems.
• Develop preliminary system schematics, layouts, and specifications to support the design process and assist with procurement activities.
• Coordinate with the design team to ensure consistency and integration between various building systems (e.g., architectural, structural, MEP).
• Contribute to the preparation of design proposals, presentations, and project deliverables to communicate design concepts and recommendations.
• Participate in design review meetings and provide technical guidance to address client feedback, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest MEP technologies, design trends, and industry best practices to enhance the company’s competitive edge.
• Assist in the development and implementation of design guidelines, templates, and quality control procedures to ensure consistent and reliable design outputs.
