FIREFIGHTER CREW CHIEF

Qualifications:

• Ten (10) years experience in fire/rescue services including five (5) years in a supervisory position. At least two (2) of the last five years must have been spent in an airport
• Must have drivers license code C (commercial trucks
• At least 2 year vocational graduates and up Must be familiar with NFPA codes and IFS TA manuals

Responsibilities:

•  Leads the crew of his assigned vehicle or equipment in the performance of all firefighting, rescue or other required duties, both structural and/or aircraft
• Directs the deployment and positioning of his crew and equipment in response to emergency call outs.
• Responsible for operation of his vehicles radio communications and for coordination with other emergency services vehicles
• Responsible for all communications with the control tower and fire control center for all necessary runway clearance and instructions
• Activates turrets, hoses, nozzles, pumps or other equipment to expel extinguishing agent appropriate to type of fire.
• Activates ladders and turntables required for rescue or access purposes.
• Supervises the replenishment of water and agent tanks.
• Assists in the training of crew members in the correct fire/rescue procedures and demonstrates the uses of various types of equipment.
• Performs check on assigned vehicle and equipment at commencement of shift for any malfunction of engines, transmission, gearboxes pumps, hydraulics and any other system responsible for
• Performs minor and preventive maintenance on assigned vehicle and equipment.
• Checks fuel, oil, water, agent level, replenishes as required.
• Reports all vehicle and equipment malfunctions requiring workshop attention to station captain.
• Performs required duties to maintain station in a clean and orderly condition
