Carpenter Agricultural and Manufacturing Limited is currently hiring a Customs Clearance Manager for its operations in Papua New Guinea. This opportunity is ideal for experienced logistics and supply chain professionals with strong expertise in import operations, customs compliance, documentation control, and international trade coordination.

Customs Clearance Manager

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of local and international customs regulations
  • Proven experience in import management and customs clearance operations
  • Experience in managing budgets, contracts, and cost control
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and import/export management systems
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including customs brokers and freight forwarders

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the entire import process from documentation preparation to final delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with local and international customs regulations and trade laws.
  • Prepare, review, and manage all import-related documentation including bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping agents, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Resolve customs clearance issues promptly and ensure minimal delays in shipment processing.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations and update internal procedures accordingly.
  • Negotiate contracts, shipping rates, and service agreements with logistics providers to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to streamline import processes and reduce lead times.
  • Monitor import activities and prepare regular reports on performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all customs entries and related documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement of logistics and supply chain processes.
