Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Operative

Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience in horizontal directional drilling, utility installation, or trenchless technology.
• High School Graduate / ALS Certified / Diploma in any mechanical Course or equivalent is an advantage
• Experience: Background in HDD, utility installation, or trenchless technology preferred.
• Certification: Training or certification in HDD operations (e.g., CPCS or NPORS) is desirable.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency with drilling equipment, hydraulic systems, and power tools.
• Safety & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong understanding of safety standards and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
• Communication & Teamwork: Clear communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
• Physical Fitness: Stamina for outdoor work and handling equipment in various conditions.
• Driving License: Valid UK driver’s license preferred.
• Proficiency: dealing with drilling equipment, hydraulic systems, and power tools.
• IELTS-UKVI is an advantage

Responsibilities:

• Role Overview: An Overhead Line Operative is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead power lines, typically in the electricity distribution and transmission sector.
• Site Preparation: Assist in setting up work sites, including site surveys and equipment preparation.
• Equipment Operation: Operate HDD machinery (e.g., drill rigs, reamers) to create underground pathways for utility installations.
• Directional Drilling: Follow predetermined bore paths, avoiding obstacles and existing utilities.
• Safety Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to safety regulations and PPE usage.
• Monitoring & Control: Track drilling parameters to optimize performance and make necessary adjustments.
• Pipe Installation: Assist in the installation of pipelines or cables through boreholes using pulling or pushing equipment.
• Documentation & Quality Assurance: Keep detailed drilling logs and ensure that installations meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Environmental Protection: Implement practices to minimize environmental impact.
• Problem-Solving: Address technical issues in equipment or ground conditions to minimize delays.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
