Electrical Supervisor

Qualifications

• The applicant must be trade or tertiary qualified and have a minimum 5 years’ experience in the electrical industry.
• If not well versed in the understanding and application of Australian and Papua New Guinean industry electrical standards, then the applicant must show a willingness to learn and apply these standards to all facets of electrical work
• The applicant must have held and electrical superintendent positions within the last 3 years and have an excellent understanding of project management. The applicant must be able to communicate fluently both in spoken and written English
• The applicant must be willing to commit to a three-year contract to live and work in Papua New Guinea.
• The applicant must be tolerant of other cultures and their customs

Job Description

• Responsible for managing electrical projects in the industrial, commercial, mining and domestic industries.
• Supervise and oversee electrical trades labor and plant resources for electrical works.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the relevant Australian and Papua New Guinea electrical standards including those related to the Fire and Telecommunications industries.
• Provide leadership and training to all Papua New Guinea national staff they have dealings with.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections and task observations to ensure compliance with safety, efficiency and technical standards.
• Prepare reports detailing labor and materials used on projects for entry into cost control software.
• Carry out procurement for all materials in a timely and orderly fashion.
• Conduct onsite training courses for both electricians and apprentices to keep them up to date with current electrical standards and bet practice.
• Ensure rotation of apprentices to allow each exposure to different types of work.
• Comply with company standards and policies whilst onsite and or using company assets.
• Responsible for supervising national electricians and trainees, expat staff as well as carrying out all facets of project mngt
• planning, staff mngt, drafting & design of shop drawings, along w/ project cost control & project scheduling
