AISUK Ltd is seeking an experienced TIG Welder / Pipe Welder for an overseas work opportunity in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality pipe welding and fabrication work, including carbon steel pipe preparation, TIG/GTAW root runs, SMAW fill and cap passes, pipe tacking, cutting, and welding in 6G position. The role requires strong technical welding skills, accuracy, and the ability to work according to specified pipe dimensions, welding procedures, and quality requirements.

TIG WELDER / PIPE WELDER

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Pipe Welder is required.
• Candidates must have a High School Diploma or at least one year of college-level education.
• Strong practical experience in pipe welding and fabrication.
• Ability to weld larger-bore pipe using MAW/SMAW fill and cap techniques and perform TIG/GTAW root runs.
• Ability to perform GTAW/TIG root welding followed by SMAW fill and cap passes as required.
• Experience welding carbon steel pipe and tubing.
• Ability to weld in 6G position with proper control, accuracy, and consistency.
• Ability to accurately set a 2.4 mm root gap and prepare pipe joints for welding.
• Ability to position and set pipe joints at the required 45-degree orientation for 6G welding.
• Skilled in pipe cutting, preparation, fit-up, beveling, tack welding, and alignment.
• Experience working with Schedule 40 carbon steel tube, including specified pipe dimensions.
• Ability to perform plate welding when required.
• Knowledge of TIG/GTAW and SMAW welding techniques and proper welding practices.
• Ability to select and use appropriate welding electrodes, filler materials, shielding gas, and welding equipment.
• Ability to read and follow welding procedures, specifications, drawings, and technical instructions.
• Strong understanding of pipe joint preparation, root gap, alignment, penetration, and weld quality requirements.
• Ability to identify common welding defects and perform appropriate corrective or repair work.
• Good knowledge of welding safety procedures and proper handling of welding and cutting equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of performing welding activities in various working positions.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship.
• Reliable, disciplined, hardworking, and capable of working effectively as part of a construction or fabrication team.
• Willing to comply with project safety, quality, and work procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform pipe welding and fabrication activities according to approved welding procedures, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Weld carbon steel pipes using TIG/GTAW and SMAW welding processes as required.
• Perform TIG/GTAW root runs on pipe and complete subsequent welding passes according to required procedures.
• Perform SMAW fill and cap passes to achieve proper weld penetration, strength, and finish.
• Weld larger-bore pipes using the required welding techniques and procedures.
• Perform pipe welding in 6G position, maintaining proper control of the welding torch/electrode throughout the joint.
• Prepare carbon steel pipe and tubing for welding, including measuring, marking, cutting, beveling, cleaning, and fitting.
• Work with Schedule 40 carbon steel tube, including the specified 33.4 mm × 3.38 mm dimensions, as required by the project.
• Accurately measure and prepare pipe sections before welding to ensure proper fit-up and alignment.
• Set and maintain the required 2.4 mm root gap during pipe fit-up.
• Position and set pipe joints accurately at the required 45-degree orientation for 6G welding.
• Perform tack welding to hold pipe sections securely and maintain proper alignment and root gap.
• Inspect pipe fit-up before welding to ensure correct alignment, dimensions, bevel condition, and joint preparation.
• Perform plate welding when required for assigned fabrication or welding activities.
• Cut through pipe after completing the required GTAW/TIG root run when specified by the welding procedure or inspection requirements.
• Grind, clean, and prepare weld areas between passes to ensure proper weld quality.
• Remove slag, spatter, oxides, and other contaminants before applying subsequent welding passes.
• Select and use the appropriate welding electrodes, filler materials, shielding gas, and welding equipment according to the applicable welding procedure.
• Set and adjust welding machines and equipment to achieve the required welding current, voltage, and other operating parameters.
• Monitor welding conditions and maintain consistent travel speed, arc length, torch angle, and heat input.
• Inspect completed welds for visible defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, excessive reinforcement, and other irregularities.
• Carry out necessary grinding, repair, or rework of welds when defects or quality issues are identified.
• Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and applicable project quality requirements.
• Maintain proper identification and traceability of welded joints and assigned welding work where required.
• Coordinate with pipe fitters, welders, supervisors, QA/QC personnel, and other trades to ensure smooth completion of welding activities.
• Maintain welding equipment, hand tools, cutting equipment, and accessories in safe and serviceable condition.
• Follow proper safety procedures when handling welding machines, compressed gases, cutting equipment, hot materials, and other welding-related tools.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing, safety footwear, and other required equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping in the welding and fabrication work area.
• Ensure welding activities are performed safely and efficiently while meeting required quality standards and project schedules.
• Perform other welding, pipe fabrication, cutting, preparation, and site-related duties assigned by management.
