Switchboard Electrician
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience as a Switchboard Electrician or in a similar electrical assembly role.
- Must be a graduate of a four-year undergraduate course, as stated in the job requirements.
- Must have relevant trade qualifications and proven experience building switchboards, distribution boards, and control panels.
- Knowledge and practical skills in interpreting switchboard drawings and schematic diagrams.
- Practical knowledge of cell wiring.
- Experience working with PLCs, VSDs, and MCCs.
- Understanding of Australian electrical standards and their application.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Good written communication skills.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must have a driver’s license with car restriction, as specified by the employer.
- Must be able to provide NBI clearance, trade certificates, and overseas police clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Build and assemble main electrical switchboards, distribution boards, and control panels.
- Interpret switchboard drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Perform cell wiring and electrical component installation according to specifications.
- Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable speed drives (VSDs), and motor control centers (MCCs).
- Install, connect, and assemble electrical components and wiring systems.
- Inspect completed switchboards and control panels to ensure quality and compliance with technical requirements.
- Identify and troubleshoot wiring errors, electrical faults, and assembly problems.
- Conduct electrical checks and testing as required for completed assemblies.
- Apply relevant Australian electrical standards and safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate work records and follow technical instructions.
