Sous Chef

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar supervisory kitchen role.
• Candidates must possess a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management or a related field.
• Must have experience in the same industry, preferably in restaurants, hotels, or hospitality establishments.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, inventory control, and menu execution.
• Thorough understanding of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
• Proven leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
• Supervise line cooks and food preparation staff, assign duties, manage shift schedules, and provide training and guidance to new team members.
• Inspect dishes before they are served to ensure they meet the restaurant’s standards for taste, quality, temperature, portioning, and presentation.
• Prepare ingredients, assist in menu preparation, develop daily specials, and support any kitchen station as needed during peak service periods.
• Monitor inventory levels, track ingredient usage, and assist in ordering food supplies and kitchen materials.
• Ensure proper food storage, handling, labeling, and stock rotation to minimize waste and maintain product quality.
• Enforce food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in compliance with company policies and local health regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while ensuring equipment is properly used and maintained.
• Work closely with the Head Chef and front-of-house team to deliver high-quality dining experiences and efficient service.
