Haraguchi Kogyo Co., Ltd is seeking qualified and experienced Shipyard Welders under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program to work in Japan. The successful candidates will perform welding and related metal fabrication work in shipyard environments, following technical specifications, workplace procedures, and strict safety and quality standards.
SHIPYARD WELDER (SSW)
Qualifications:
- Male, 20–40 years old.
- For applicants who have completed TITP II or TITP III in Welding:
- Must have a Level 3 Certificate or Evaluation Certificate.
- For Skill Test Passers:
- Must be a Prometric Skilled Test Passer.
- Must have passed JLPT N4 or JFT-Basic.
- Relevant welding experience and practical skills in shipyard or metalworking environments are highly advantageous.
- Able to perform physically demanding work in a shipyard environment.
- Knowledge of welding tools, equipment, materials, and basic safety procedures.
- Able to follow technical instructions and workplace safety requirements.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality welds.
- Responsible, hardworking, disciplined, and willing to work as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform welding work on ship structures, components, plates, frames, pipes, and other metal parts.
- Read and follow welding drawings, specifications, measurements, and work instructions.
- Prepare metal surfaces and materials before welding.
- Set up and operate welding machines, tools, and related equipment.
- Perform welding using appropriate methods and techniques according to the assigned work.
- Position, align, fit, and secure metal components before welding.
- Check welds for proper penetration, alignment, strength, appearance, and quality.
- Perform grinding, cleaning, finishing, and other post-welding work as required.
- Assist with cutting, fitting, measuring, and basic fabrication of metal components.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and safe condition.
- Identify and report welding defects, material issues, or equipment problems to supervisors.
- Perform repair or rework of welds when instructed.
- Follow shipyard production schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Work safely around heavy machinery, metal materials, elevated work areas, and other shipyard hazards.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all occupational safety procedures.
- Coordinate with other welders, fabricators, shipyard workers, and supervisors to complete projects.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure the work area is free from unnecessary hazards.
- Follow company rules, quality standards, and Japanese workplace procedures.
- Perform other welding, fabrication, and shipyard-related duties as assigned.
