PIPE WELDER

Qualifications:

• Relevant work experience as a Pipe Welder in construction, industrial, oil and gas, petrochemical, or similar projects.
• Skilled in pipe welding and familiar with proper welding procedures and techniques.
• Able to read and interpret piping isometric drawings, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of pipe preparation, joint fit-up, alignment, welding, and finishing procedures.
• Familiarity with different pipe materials, welding consumables, and welding equipment.
• Able to identify common welding defects and perform appropriate corrective work.
• Skilled in the safe use of welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, and related tools.
• Good understanding of welding safety, hot-work procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Physically fit and capable of working in demanding industrial and construction environments.
• Able to work effectively with pipe fitters, fabricators, supervisors, and welding inspectors.

Responsibilities:

• Perform pipe welding using appropriate welding processes and techniques according to project requirements.
• Prepare, fit, align, and weld pipes, fittings, flanges, and related piping components.
• Read and interpret welding symbols, piping isometric drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
• Prepare welding joints by cleaning, grinding, beveling, and properly positioning pipe sections.
• Select appropriate welding electrodes, filler materials, shielding gases, and consumables based on the welding application.
• Perform root, fill, and cap passes according to approved welding procedures and required standards.
• Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, and other imperfections.
• Perform necessary repairs or corrective welding work to meet required quality standards.
• Coordinate with pipe fitters, fabricators, welding inspectors, supervisors, and other project personnel.
• Maintain welding machines, tools, cables, electrodes, and other equipment in safe working condition.
• Follow approved welding procedures, hot-work requirements, permit systems, and workplace safety regulations.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and a clean and safe welding work area.
• Assist with welding inspections and quality-control requirements when required.
• Perform other pipe welding duties as assigned.
