Passer SIDC Projects UAB is seeking experienced Metal Ship Hull Assemblers to join its shipbuilding and marine construction team in Lithuania. The role involves assembling and fitting metal ship hull structures, interpreting technical drawings, performing tack welding, and using shipyard equipment to ensure accurate and safe hull construction. Candidates must have substantial shipbuilding experience, strong metalworking skills, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a demanding shipyard environment.

Metal Ship Hull Assembler

Qualifications:

• Preferably not more than 45 years old.
• No specific educational attainment is required by the employer.
• Minimum 5 years of shipbuilding experience as a Metal Ship Hull Assembler.
• Proven experience in metal ship hull assembly, fitting, and structural fabrication.
• Able to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and shipbuilding plans.
• Skilled in metal assembly, fitting, positioning, alignment, and tack welding.
• Experienced in tack welding using MMA, MIG/MAG processes (111, 135, and 136).
• Knowledge of ship hull structures, steel plates, frames, stiffeners, bulkheads, decks, and other marine structural components.
• Skilled in measuring, marking, cutting, fitting, and aligning metal components.
• Experienced in operating cranes and shipyard equipment safely and according to established procedures.
• Able to use hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, measuring instruments, and other metalworking equipment.
• Good understanding of safe lifting, material handling, welding, and metal fabrication practices.
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding shipyard work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working in confined or elevated areas.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality workmanship.
• Safety-conscious and able to strictly follow shipyard safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Able to identify fitting, alignment, dimensional, and assembly issues and make appropriate adjustments.
• Good teamwork and communication skills when working with welders, fabricators, supervisors, and other shipyard personnel.
• Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and capable of working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Willing to follow company procedures, technical specifications, production requirements, and workplace safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble and fit metal ship hull structures according to technical drawings, specifications, and shipbuilding requirements.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, hull plans, fabrication drawings, and assembly instructions.
• Measure, mark, position, and align steel plates, profiles, frames, stiffeners, brackets, and other hull components.
• Perform accurate fitting and assembly of metal components before final welding.
• Conduct tack welding to temporarily secure assembled components in their correct positions.
• Perform tack welding using MMA, MIG/MAG welding processes (111, 135, and 136) as required.
• Ensure correct alignment, dimensions, gaps, angles, and positioning of hull sections during assembly.
• Use measuring tools, levels, squares, templates, and other shipyard equipment to verify accuracy.
• Assist in the assembly of hull blocks, sections, decks, bulkheads, frames, and other structural components.
• Prepare metal surfaces and components for fitting, assembly, and welding.
• Use grinders, cutting tools, drills, impact tools, and other equipment required for metal assembly work.
• Operate and assist with cranes and lifting equipment for the safe movement and positioning of heavy ship components.
• Properly secure, guide, and position materials during lifting and assembly operations.
• Inspect completed assemblies for dimensional accuracy, proper fit-up, alignment, and visible defects.
• Make necessary adjustments to components to achieve the required fit and alignment.
• Coordinate with welders, fabricators, crane operators, supervisors, and other shipyard personnel.
• Follow approved work procedures, technical specifications, and shipyard production schedules.
• Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in clean and organized condition.
• Observe strict shipyard safety procedures when working with heavy materials, welding equipment, cranes, and elevated structures.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow welding, fire, lifting, and workplace safety requirements.
• Report defective materials, equipment problems, unsafe conditions, or assembly issues to the supervisor.
• Perform other metal fabrication, fitting, assembly, and shipbuilding duties as assigned.
