KBR SERVICES LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician (Category B) to support maintenance operations in Qatar. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, fertilizer, or power plant environments, particularly in continuous-operation plants. The candidate should be knowledgeable in pumps, valves, static equipment, equipment alignment, and safe maintenance practices including LOTO.
MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (CATEGORY B)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of working experience is required.
- Must have maintenance experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Fertilizer, or Power Plant environments.
- No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
- Proven hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting in continuous-operation plants.
- Good HSEQ record in previous employment and strong commitment to workplace health, safety, environment, and quality requirements.
- Good knowledge and practical understanding of Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Hands-on experience in the installation, removal, maintenance, and reinstallation of pumps and blowers.
- Experience maintaining different types of pumps, including single-stage and multi-stage centrifugal pumps and reciprocating pumps.
- Good knowledge of different pump components, parts, and their maintenance requirements.
- Hands-on experience maintaining valves, vessels, columns, heat exchangers, pipes, and other static equipment.
- Practical experience in rotating equipment maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Hands-on experience with rim-and-face alignment and laser alignment activities.
- Ability to use mechanical tools, measuring equipment, and maintenance tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform appropriate corrective maintenance.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices, maintenance procedures, and industrial plant operations.
- Physically capable of performing hands-on mechanical maintenance work in demanding industrial environments.
- Strong teamwork, communication, reliability, and problem-solving skills.
- Willing to work in continuous-operation plant environments and follow required work schedules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance activities in continuous-operation industrial plants.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and identify the causes of equipment failures and operational problems.
- Install, remove, inspect, maintain, repair, and reinstall pumps and blowers.
- Perform maintenance on different types of industrial pumps, including single-stage and multi-stage centrifugal pumps and reciprocating pumps.
- Identify and inspect major pump components and understand their functions and maintenance requirements.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and servicing of various types of valves used in industrial plants.
- Carry out maintenance activities on vessels, columns, heat exchangers, pipes, and other static equipment.
- Assist with equipment dismantling, inspection, repair, replacement of defective components, and reassembly.
- Perform equipment installation and removal activities safely and according to approved procedures.
- Conduct mechanical inspections to identify wear, damage, leakage, misalignment, vibration, and other potential equipment problems.
- Perform equipment alignment activities using appropriate alignment methods and tools.
- Carry out rim-and-face alignment and laser alignment of rotating equipment where required.
- Check shaft, coupling, bearing, and other rotating equipment components during maintenance activities.
- Assist in identifying abnormal equipment conditions and recommend appropriate corrective maintenance.
- Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and mechanical maintenance equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow approved maintenance procedures, technical instructions, work permits, and site requirements.
- Apply Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures before performing maintenance on equipment where required.
- Maintain a strong focus on HSEQ requirements during all maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Inspect work areas and equipment to identify potential safety hazards before and during maintenance operations.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, operators, and other maintenance personnel to complete work safely and efficiently.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean and organized.
- Report equipment defects, maintenance findings, completed work, and outstanding issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform other mechanical maintenance and technical duties as assigned by management.
