INDUSTRIAL TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of working experience in industrial maintenance, machinery, equipment servicing, or a related field.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant technical field.
- Male applicants are preferred.
- Must be ex-abroad, preferably with previous work experience in Africa.
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial machines, equipment, production systems, electrical systems, mechanical systems, and basic automation.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to identify, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and equipment-related problems.
- Experience in both preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ability to perform equipment inspection, repair, adjustment, component replacement, and testing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance procedures.
- Good understanding of industrial safety and proper maintenance practices.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to communicate clearly with engineers, operators, supervisors, and other technicians.
- Able to work independently and as part of a technical maintenance team.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on industrial maintenance duties.
- Reliable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and disciplined.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor industrial machinery, equipment, and production systems to ensure proper performance and safe operation.
- Conduct routine inspections of machines and equipment to identify defects, wear, leaks, abnormal sounds, or other potential problems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities such as cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, calibration, and replacement of worn components.
- Carry out corrective maintenance and repair defective machinery and equipment to restore normal operation.
- Identify the root causes of equipment breakdowns and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Repair, replace, or adjust defective mechanical and electrical components as required.
- Install, assemble, and test new machinery, equipment, and related components.
- Assist with equipment commissioning and ensure newly installed machinery operates according to specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and specifications.
- Inspect electrical and mechanical connections, components, and systems for proper condition and functionality.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of automation and control systems when required.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify conditions that may lead to breakdowns or production interruptions.
- Coordinate with engineers, operators, supervisors, and other technicians when addressing equipment problems.
- Record maintenance activities, equipment problems, inspections, repairs, parts replaced, and other technical information accurately.
- Maintain proper maintenance records and reports for equipment history and future reference.
- Ensure maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained, clean, and organized.
- Follow established preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Observe proper industrial safety procedures when operating, inspecting, repairing, or maintaining machinery.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are safely isolated before performing maintenance or repair work when required.
- Minimize equipment downtime by responding promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requirements.
- Assist in improving equipment reliability, production efficiency, and maintenance procedures.
- Identify worn or damaged parts and recommend appropriate replacement or repair.
- Follow manufacturer instructions, technical specifications, company procedures, and supervisor instructions.
- Perform other industrial maintenance and technical duties assigned by management.
