Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working with heavy vehicles including prime movers, rigids, and trailers as well as light vehicles.
• Experience working with fuel tankers will be a strong advantage
• Valid driver’s license. Heavy vehicle license would be an advantage.
• Experience in accurate electronic data entry for service records
• Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment or willing to learn
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on a fleet of heavy diesel vehicles, including trucks, tankers and specialized equipment, and light vehicles.
• Perform oil changes, filter replacements, and other routine servicing tasks to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
• Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical issues in diesel engines and related systems.
• Utilise diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Execute repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other essential components.
  Overhaul engines and major components when necessary to extend the lifespan of vehicles.
