DESCON Engineering is seeking experienced Crane Operators to support construction, maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround projects in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, and Heavy Industry sectors. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely operating mobile, crawler, or tower cranes to lift, transport, and position heavy equipment, structural components, piping, and industrial materials while ensuring compliance with lifting plans, safety regulations, and project requirements.
GAS FITTER (CRANE OPERATOR)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be at least a High School Graduate.
- Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, or Heavy Industry is mandatory.
- Proven experience operating mobile, crawler, tower, or other heavy cranes in industrial and construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of crane operating procedures, lifting techniques, load charts, and safe lifting practices.
- Experience handling heavy equipment, structural steel, piping, machinery, and oversized industrial loads.
- Familiarity with lifting plans, rigging operations, crane inspections, and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements for lifting operations.
- Ability to work effectively with riggers, signalmen, supervisors, and other construction personnel.
- Good communication skills in English or Arabic.
- Physically fit and capable of working in demanding industrial and construction environments.
- Valid crane operator certification or license is an advantage, where applicable.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Operate mobile, crawler, tower, or other heavy-duty cranes to safely lift, transport, and position materials, equipment, and structural components.
- Perform pre-operational inspections of cranes and lifting equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Review lifting plans, load charts, and crane capacities before commencing lifting operations.
- Coordinate closely with riggers, lifting supervisors, signalmen, and site personnel to execute safe lifting activities.
- Maneuver heavy loads through confined spaces, elevated work areas, and complex industrial environments with precision.
- Ensure all lifting operations comply with approved lifting procedures, load limits, and company safety standards.
- Monitor crane stability, ground conditions, weather conditions, and operational hazards during lifting activities.
- Maintain clear communication using standard hand signals and radio communication throughout lifting operations.
- Report equipment defects, mechanical issues, or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisors.
- Complete daily equipment inspection records and operational logs.
- Follow permit-to-work systems, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Participate in construction, maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround projects as assigned.
