FOOD SERVER (HOSPITAL)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience is required.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Hospital Food Server, preferably with experience in trayline operations and therapeutic diets such as renal diets.
- Candidates must be at least a high school graduate.
- Female applicants are preferred for this role.
- Knowledge of hospital food-service procedures, patient meal delivery, tray assembly, and dietary requirements.
- Familiarity with special and therapeutic diets, including renal, diabetic, low-sodium, and pureed diets.
- Ability to accurately verify patient identification and dietary restrictions before meal delivery.
- Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and infection-control practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and basic computer skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to accurately match patient meals with diet orders.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with patients, nurses, dietitians, and kitchen staff.
- Courteous, patient, reliable, and service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a hospital environment and follow established procedures.
- Physically capable of standing, walking, pushing food carts, and handling meal trays for extended periods.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays when required by hospital operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assemble patient food trays on the trayline according to individual meal orders and prescribed diets.
- Match meals accurately to specific dietary requirements, including low-sodium, diabetic, renal, pureed, and other therapeutic diets.
- Verify patient identification before delivering or serving meals to ensure the correct food is provided to the correct patient.
- Check dietary restrictions, allergies, special meal instructions, and diet changes before meal delivery.
- Deliver food carts and patient meal trays to hospital rooms in a timely, safe, and courteous manner.
- Ensure patient meals are delivered according to established hospital meal schedules.
- Handle patient food trays carefully to maintain proper food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients when delivering meals.
- Collect soiled trays, dishes, utensils, and food-service items after meals.
- Return used trays and food-service equipment to the appropriate kitchen or designated collection area.
- Assist with cleaning and sanitizing traylines, serving areas, carts, equipment, and other food-service areas.
- Follow hospital food safety, sanitation, infection-control, and personal hygiene procedures.
- Maintain proper handling and transportation of patient meals to prevent contamination.
- Report missed meals, incorrect trays, diet changes, patient concerns, and meal-related issues to clinical dietitians and nursing staff.
- Communicate patient feedback regarding meals to the appropriate dietary or clinical personnel.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff, clinical dietitians, nurses, and other healthcare personnel to ensure accurate meal service.
- Assist in checking meal trays against diet orders and patient information before distribution.
- Use Excel and other basic computer tools to record, check, or manage food-service information when required.
- Maintain accurate records related to meal distribution and collection as assigned.
- Follow hospital procedures for handling special diets and therapeutic meals.
- Perform other food-service and dietary department duties assigned by hospital management.
Requirements:
