Ace Alloy Wheel Repair is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fitter to join its automotive repair team in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for fitting, assembling, adjusting, and replacing automotive components while ensuring proper alignment, functionality, and quality workmanship. The role requires practical technical skills, the ability to use workshop tools and equipment safely, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
FITTER
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Fitter in an automotive workshop, mechanical workshop, manufacturing facility, or related industry is preferred.
- Practical knowledge of component fitting, assembly, adjustment, and installation procedures.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment.
- Ability to take accurate measurements and check component alignment and fit.
- Basic understanding of mechanical components, fasteners, fittings, and assembly methods.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions where required.
- Knowledge of quality inspection and proper handling of automotive components.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to identify fitting problems and report defects or irregularities.
- Good manual dexterity, coordination, and practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on workshop tasks.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Responsible, reliable, hardworking, and willing to follow company policies and workshop standards
Responsibilities:
- Fit, assemble, install, and replace automotive components according to technical specifications and work instructions.
- Inspect components for damage, wear, defects, and dimensional accuracy before fitting.
- Measure, align, and adjust components to ensure proper fit and function.
- Perform fitting and assembly tasks using appropriate hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment.
- Assist with the removal and installation of mechanical parts and related automotive components.
- Check the condition and compatibility of replacement parts before installation.
- Carry out basic preparation, cleaning, deburring, and finishing of components as required.
- Perform fitting, adjustment, and assembly work related to alloy wheels and associated components within the assigned scope of work.
- Check wheel components for visible defects, damage, and irregularities before and after repair or fitting.
- Follow technical drawings, work instructions, measurements, and manufacturer specifications when applicable.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure fitted components meet required standards.
- Identify incorrect fittings, alignment issues, and defective parts and report them to the supervisor.
- Assist mechanics and other workshop personnel with repair, assembly, and fitting activities.
- Use workshop machinery and equipment safely and according to operating procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in clean and serviceable condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and use personal protective equipment when required.
- Handle automotive parts and materials carefully to prevent damage and unnecessary waste.
- Maintain accurate records of assigned work and report completed tasks or outstanding issues.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure work is completed efficiently and within required timeframes.
- Perform other fitting, assembly, and workshop duties as assigned by management.
