Electrical & HV Commissioning Technicians

An Electrical & HV (High Voltage) Commissioning Technician plays a crucial role in assisting with the commissioning activities for electrical and high voltage systems and equipment in various industries such as power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, manufacturing, and more. This role requires a combination of technical skills, hands-on experience, safety knowledge, and a foundational understanding of commissioning principles, standards, codes, and practices.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a technical diploma, certificate, or associate degree program in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Systems, High Voltage Engineering, or a related field is typically required. Coursework in electrical systems, high voltage technology, commissioning procedures, safety practices, and relevant disciplines provides foundational knowledge and expertise.
• Obtaining relevant certifications such as Electrical Technician Certification, High Voltage Safety Training, or other industry-specific certifications can demonstrate proficiency, competence, and commitment to excellence in the field of commissioning and high voltage operations.
• Relevant hands-on experience in electrical, high voltage, or commissioning roles, including exposure to commissioning processes, procedures, practices, equipment, tools, and field conditions within specific industries and applications.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency, practical skills, and competence in assisting with commissioning tasks, tests, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs related to electrical and high voltage systems and equipment under the guidance and supervision of experienced technicians or engineers.

Technical Skills:

• Electrical Systems Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical systems, equipment, components, and technologies, including high voltage systems, transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protection devices, control systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Commissioning Procedures: Familiarity with commissioning plans, procedures, protocols, tests, and activities for electrical and high voltage systems and equipment, including the ability to assist with tests, inspections, measurements, diagnostics, and validations under the supervision of experienced professionals.
• Safety Protocols: Knowledge of safety practices, regulations, standards, and compliance requirements related to commissioning, electrical, and high voltage operations to ensure personal safety and the safe execution of commissioning activities.
• Tools and Equipment: Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments, meters, tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices commonly used in commissioning tasks, tests, inspections, and troubleshooting activities.
