Otak International is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of storm water drainage and irrigation projects in the United Arab Emirates. The successful candidate will assist in managing project activities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, monitoring design progress, and ensuring that technical deliverables are completed according to project requirements, schedules, and applicable standards.

ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in storm water design or irrigation, preferably within an engineering consultancy.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, StormCAD, SewerGEMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or equivalent software.
• Good understanding of storm water drainage, irrigation systems, hydraulic modelling, hydrologic analysis, and infrastructure design.
• Experience in reviewing engineering drawings, calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design submissions.
• Knowledge of project coordination, design management, scheduling, progress monitoring, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of UAE design standards and local authority requirements is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of multidisciplinary engineering project environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet project deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while supporting the Project Manager and multidisciplinary engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of storm water and irrigation projects.
• Support the management of project activities from design development through completion.
• Coordinate with civil, drainage, irrigation, infrastructure, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Monitor design progress, deliverables, schedules, and project milestones.
• Review and coordinate storm water and irrigation design drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
• Assist in the preparation and review of drainage and irrigation network designs.
• Support hydraulic and hydrologic analysis and modelling activities as required.
• Use Civil 3D, StormCAD, SewerGEMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or equivalent software for design, modelling, and technical analysis.
• Review project drawings, specifications, technical reports, and engineering submissions for completeness and coordination.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders regarding technical and project requirements.
• Assist in monitoring project resources, work schedules, and technical deliverables.
• Track project issues, design changes, technical queries, and required corrective actions.
• Participate in project meetings, design coordination meetings, progress reviews, and technical workshops.
• Assist in identifying project risks, delays, design constraints, and coordination issues and support the development of appropriate solutions.
• Ensure project activities and design deliverables comply with applicable UAE design standards, regulations, and local authority requirements.
• Support the preparation of progress reports, presentations, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
• Coordinate technical responses to client and authority comments and assist in closing design review observations.
• Monitor the quality and timely completion of engineering deliverables.
• Assist with project documentation, records, correspondence, and technical submissions.
• Provide support to the Project Manager in maintaining effective communication and coordination across project teams.
• Perform other project management and engineering coordination duties as assigned.
