WESTSHIP was set up in Singapore under the name of Western Shipping Agencies Pte Ltd. in 1987 with primary focus to conduct agency business and crew management. In 1992 after change of ownership, new owners were keen to develop the company as a technical management company. Finally, during the year 2000, WESTERN SHIPPING AGENCIES PTE LTD. was offered a MR size tanker for technical management.
By 2006, company was managing 10 ships and it was considered that a change of name to Western Shipping Pte Ltd, would portray a better profile for the company, accordingly name was changed. By then, though agency and crewing activities were ongoing, technical management became main business activity. WESTSHIP specialized in oil and chemical tanker management, supporting ships engaged in marine transportation of crude/clean petroleum products and chemical. The company manages a modern fleet of tankers consisting of MR (oil/chemical), Panamax (LR 1), Aframax (LR 2). The vessels are offered and engaged in worldwide trade.
WESTSHIP’s business strategy is to continue developing the Company as a leading service provider with a customer and operations centered approach worldwide; through efficient and safe operations without compromising safety. At the same time, WESTSHIP also recognizes the importance of environmental protection and inculcates practices to minimize adverse impact on environment.
WESTSHIP pursues and complies with the stringent requirements of Oil Majors and quality Charterers for uninterrupted employment. Operational readiness is achieved through proactive maintenance methodologies, developed in accordance with best industry practices, which besides conforming regulatory requirements, achieves a higher degree of safety and quality standards. An eclectic mix of ex-seafarers and specialists employed in Office provide pertinent managerial control over the entire range of technical issues. Competency being the only concern irrespective of nationality, gender and age contributed to a multinational workforce under the leadership of General Manager in Singapore office. Long serving senior managers in Office with substantial experience and a bunch of dedicated officers and ratings on board, who regularly return to the same fleet, contribute to a seamless operation.
