Teekay was founded in 1973 by Torben Karlshoej, whose initials give us our name. Under Torben’s leadership, Teekay grew from a tanker operator to an operational leader and successful vessel owner in the conventional shipping market.
Torben passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 1992, leaving a powerful legacy behind. Our Teekay Spirit values represent the principles that Torben lived by and expected of all employees at sea and on shore.
Qualifications for Job Applicants
The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.
- Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
