Solvang Philippines Incorporated was established in June 19, 2002 upon the issuance of the Certificate of Incorporation in accordance with the Corporation code of the Philippines.
In November 19, 2008 Solvang Philippines acquired its Provisional license to recruit, issued by Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). Five months after (April 1, 2009), Solvang Philippines inc. officially started operating, recruited and deployed seafarers under the Management of the late Captain Roberto G. Nieto who was then the President & General Manager.
Its incomparable business operations and exemplary performance made POEA issue a permanent license to recruit on July 27, 2010.
On September 20, 2011 the industry mourned the sudden death of Solvang Philippines President & General Manager Capt. Roberto G. Nieto.
Capt. Virgilio A. Lopez Jr. took over as the new President & General Manager of Solvang Philippines Inc.
Qualifications for Job Applicants
The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.
- Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
