Pacific Asia Overseas Shipping Corporation (PASCOR) understands that safety is the major concern of the shipping industry. Pre-departure seminars are conducted with an emphasis on “Life at Sea & ISM” Besides discussions on the latest suggested seagoing techniques, personal discipline and drug prevention are other topics that are regularly taken up in these seminars. PASCOR crew members are trained in survival techniques, first aid, fire fighting, and other important skills.
Qualifications for Job Applicants
The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.
- Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
