OSM Shipping Phils., Inc. or popularly known as OSMP was incorporated in September 1989. It was organized to undertake a comprehensive handling and management of different kinds of ocean-going vessels and attend to the ship agency needs of foreign vessels calling Philippine ports. OSM offers complete manning services to ship owners and ship managing companies and enjoys a good name and reputation for providing efficient, reliable, competent and properly trained personnel to its various principals who operate world-wide. In providing these services OSM is ever mindful of the standards of the International Maritime Organization, as set out in its various resolutions, and strives to remain at the forefront of progress in matters of the administration of sea staff provided Principals.
The pioneers of the organization are composed of successful graduates of the country’s premier maritime school, the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA). They have wide experienced in the field of manning and other maritime services. The expertise of the organizers made OSM to be full service shipping organization.
The organization started its operation with one (1) ocean-going vessel. At present, the number of vessels reached to more than 40 and their fleet consist of bulk, panamax, cape size, general cargo, container, oil tanker, vlcc, product tanker, oil chemical, OBO, bunkering vessels, fishing vessel, motor tug vessels, self-elevated jack-up barge. The organization is manned by fourteen (14) competent, dedicated and hardworking staff whose experience in their respective area of responsibility could not be underscored coupled with some three (3) external consultants.
Qualifications for Job Applicants
The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.
- Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
