MMSPhil Maritime Services, Inc. is a manning agency is duly licensed and authorized by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to engage in the business of ships crew manning for international ocean going vessels and recruitment of shipboard personnel and other related maritime activities.

MMSPhil Maritime Services, Inc. was originally established as Philasia Shipping Agency Corporation on 02 June 1982. In the same year, the company received its accreditation certificate as a Licensed Manning Agency from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). On 09 September 2004, the company changed its name to MMSPhil Maritime Services, Inc. to honor its long-time affiliation with MMS Co., Ltd of Tokyo, Japan.

For more than 24 years in the Manning Industry, MMSPhil has established a prominent reputation in supplying qualified, professional and responsible officers and ratings on board various types of vessels such as Bulk Carriers ( Panamax), Tankers (VLCC, MR, Aframax), Woodchip Carriers, and Pure Car Carriers. On 14 July 1997, ISOQAR of London approved the certification of the company’s Quality Management System and Operation of Ship Manning Agency under ISO 9002 and on 23 December 2003 the company’s Quality System was certified under ISO 9001 2000 of the new standards.

On 01 June 1999, MMSPhil, formally opened its In-House Training Center, the primary function of which is to upgrade the capabilities of the seamen by introducing the principles of INTERNATIONAL SAFETY MANAGEMENT ((ISM), STCW’95, SOLAS, MARPOL 73/78, Basic Computer Operation and familiarization of Ship Owner’s SMS and Policies. It has been the desire of MMSPhil to provide Ship Owners and Ship Managers with quality seamen through total approach on training. To ensure steady supply of qualified Officers, both Deck and Engine Department, MMSPhil had embarked its Cadetship Training Program.

Qualifications for Job Applicants

The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.

• Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
• Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
• Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
