Five Star Marine Services Corporation is a manning agency licensed by the POEA to recruit seafarers to man/board vessels plying international sea lanes and other related maritime activities.
February 1994 saw the humble beginning of Five Star Marine Services Corp., and first operate and held office in Sucat, Paranaque, where Manila’s premier international airport is located.

The company’s first client and principal was Euston Shipping Co. Ltd. of Piraeus, Greece, owner & operator of a tanker and two cargo vessels. In August of the same year, Five Starinitially deployed twenty-four (24) Filipino crewmembers, from the Master down to the Engine & Deck Cadets, to the company’s cargo vessel, “M/V Dora”.,
Before the end of 1994, Five Star earned the confidence of another foreign principal, Universal Cruise Limited of Singapore, owner and operator of the passenger/casino vessels, later known as “The Mercury” (ex-name “M/V Renaissance I”) and “The Neptune” (ex-name “M/V Renaissance II”). The company provided crewmembers for the entire Hotel Department including the Casino and Infirmary.
Qualifications for Job Applicants
The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.
- Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
