Century Maritime Agencies, Inc. (CENMAR) is a company which was officially issued a license to operate as a Manning Agency by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on 18 March 1998 and is a duly registered company with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) since 1997. It is engaged in the recruitment of Filipino seafarers for overseas employment and acts in accordance with POEA rules and regulations.
The Century Maritime Agencies, Inc. prime service is to supply crew members of any rank for the manning of the customers vessel in accordance with the relevant contracts, customers specific requirements and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). It is committed to providing a quality service, which consistently and continuously meets the registered of its Principals whilst creating s safety culture for the seafarers recruited through CENMAR.
Our mission is to ensure that an adequate pool of competent, certificated, trained, medically fit and of high safety consciousness seafarers is timely and efficiently available to man the Principal’s ships. Our Company based in Ermita has been in operation since 1998. It was established with the aim of selecting, recruiting and maintaining qualified, experienced and certified seafarers for manning of vessels of its Principals. We are presently supplying Filipino crew both officers and ratings.
We support the need for a comprehensive and effective Quality Management System to ensure that the services we offer meet the Principals requirement. That management system is detailed in the Company’s Quality Manual since April 2008. We are currently preparing our Company for the adoption of the applicable provisions of the Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) 2006. CENMAR is also supported by capable staff with many years of experience in the Manning industry.
Qualifications for Job Applicants
The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.
- Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
