Bouvet Shipping Management Corporation (BSMC) is a domestic corporation established primarily to provide complete services to foreign shipowners, ship operators and managers such as but not limited to full, and/or partial crewing of ocean-going vessels.
The company was incorporated and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on November 6, 1990 with Registration No. 183342.
It was accredited by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (with Certificate No. POEA-153-SB-121916-R-MLC) as manning agency with license to recruit, process and deploy seafarers and certified as being compliant with the requirements of MLC 2006.
In August 2018, it obtained its ISO 9001:2015 certification from DNV-GL Business Assurance certifying that its management system is in accordance with ISO standards.
Qualifications for Job Applicants
The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.
- Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
- Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
