Blue Manila, Inc. is a POEA licensed Philippine sea-based manning and crewing agency.

Blue Manila, Inc. (BMI) was founded in November 1983 and is licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) as a sea-based manning agency operating in compliance with MLC 2006.

Blue Manila’s core activities are:

• Recruitment
• Testing and evaluation
• Selection
• Training
• Deployment of qualified (based on education, experience and training); properly certificated, well documented, medically fit, possessing the right attitude and English proficient Filipino seafarers on board our principals’ vessels.

Our first Crew deployment was in Dec 1983 consisting of 40 crew to 2 VLCC’s (Very Large Crude Carriers) registered under the Iranian flag and trading in the Persian Gulf.

The vessels were under a German owned crewmanagement company operating in Cyprus.

The number of manned VLCC’s increased to 20. Bulk carriers and supply vessels were added to the manned fleet. In 1984, we began to supply Officers and crew to Heavy Lift/ Project Cargo Vessels owned by another German company.

Over the years, we have supplied Filipino Officers and crew to the below various types of vessels under our Principals who are/were mainly based in Asia, Europe & North America namely: Hongkong, Korea & Singapore; Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Faroe Islands, Switzerland and Panama:

1. Bulk carriers
2. Cable laying/ supply, transport, recovery and storage
3. Container vessels
4. Fishing vessels
5. General cargo vessels (Heavy cargoes)
6. Heavy Transport vessels/ semi-submersible
7. Multipurpose with heavy lift cranes for project cargoes
8. Offshore vessels engaged in offshore windfarms, oil and gas exploration projects among others (AHTS, muticats, workboats, chase/ guard vessels/ dredgers, tugboats/ barges, ice breakers/ supply/support vessels, crew transfer vessels, research and survey)
9. Reefer
10. Tankers (Oil/ chemical)

Qualifications for Job Applicants

The agency ensure that only Filipino workers are qualified and medically-fit are deployed. Hence, Filipino workers are medically examined by government-accredited medical clinics or hospitals and trade-tested or trained by training centers authorized by the government.

• Qualification of Seafarers – Only seafarers certified as competent and qualified shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
• Minimum Age – No person below eighteen (18) years old shall work, be employed or be engaged onboard a ship.
• Medical Certification – The seafarer shall hold a valid medical certificate issued by a medical facility duly accredited by the Department of Health (DOH) for that purpose, in accordance with its existing rules and regulations.
