Firefighting Services Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant working experience in fire protection equipment maintenance and/or firefighting vehicle repair.
- Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in firefighting vehicles, pumps, hydraulic systems, and heavy-duty trucks.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing firefighting trucks and related emergency response equipment.
- Familiarity with fire protection systems, safety standards, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read technical manuals, mechanical diagrams, and service documentation.
- Physically fit and capable of performing field and workshop maintenance activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working with firefighting trucks and emergency response vehicles is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of fire suppression system standards and inspection procedures is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license for heavy vehicles is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair portable fire extinguishers, fire hoses, hose cabinets, and fire hydrants.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fixed fire protection systems including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and fire suppression systems.
- Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic faults, dismantle equipment, and replace defective or damaged components.
- Conduct routine servicing and repairs on firefighting vehicles, pumps, and heavy-duty trucks.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety regulations, operational standards, and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate with supervisors and safety personnel regarding equipment status and repair requirements.
- Perform operational testing to verify equipment functionality and reliability after repairs.
- Assist in emergency maintenance and field service activities when required.
