Pipe Fitter

Qualifications:

• Must Have Latest Shipyard Experience
• High school diploma or technical/vocational school training, often with an associated apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities:

• Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Understanding technical drawings to determine pipe locations, materials, and system layouts.
• Fabrication: Measuring, cutting, and bending pipes to specifications using various tools.
• Assembly: Fitting pipes, tubes, and related equipment together, then securing joints with methods like tack welding, brazing, cementing, or threading.
• Installation: Attaching pipes to ship structures using brackets and clamps, and installing supports and valves according to plan.
• Maintenance & Repair: Performing regular maintenance, checking for leaks or wear, and replacing fittings or other components.
• Testing: Conducting leak tests to ensure the quality and integrity of the piping systems.
• Previous experience in shipbuilding or the marine industry is often required.
