Design Engineer (Mechanical)
Qualifications:
- BS Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in Switchgear Manufacturing Industry, with working knowledge in Mechanical Design, Sheet Metal, and Copper fabrication drawings, enclosure type. Familiarity with 3D and 2D engineering design and manufacturing tools using AutoCad, Inventor, Solidworks, etc.
- Ability to interpret basic front elevation, one-line and schematic drawings. Has a good knowledge about Mechanical Design, Sheet Metal Fabrication and busbar fabrication. Knowledge on International Technical Standards (ANSI/IEC/UL/ASTM/NEMA/DIN/ISO, etc) related to the job category. Good command in English and communication skills. Good knowledge about NEMA/IEC enclosure types and classifications.
Responsibilities:
- Creation of Mechanical drawings and Bill of Materials to achieve maximum efficiency, schedules are met, and procedures are followed.
- Prepare mechanical design drawings related to existing product range, design enhancements, development and product integration.
- Preparation of Drawing Legens of Switchgear assembly for Production, Material List (BOM), assembly and part drawing.
- Create models of sheet metal panels, structural supports, barrier and conducted copper bus assemblies that will focus on manufacturability, client specifications, functionality and regulatory requirements for customized new product developments or improvement projects on time and within budget.
- Prepare Bill of Materials, Material requisition, sub-supplier purchase orders and inventory management related to mechanical components.
- Effectively collaborate with electrical designers to ensure electrical functionality and accurately depict the structure and copper bus within the client drawing package.
- Support the efforts to reduce cycle time by exploring or reusing existing designs that are applicable.
- To design considering manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques (DFMA).
