Tire Fitter

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience
  • Preferably with experience in same industry

Job Description:

  • Responsible for installing, inspecting, and repairing tires on various types of vehicles.
  • The specific duties may vary depending on the employer and the type of vehicles involved, but generally, a tire fitter’s job description includes the following
  • Remove and replace tires on a variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, and heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Mount and balance new tires on rims. Install and repair valve stems.
  • Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation. Identify and repair punctures or other damage to tires.
  • Check and adjust tire pressure.
  • Perform visual inspections for irregularities such as bulges, cuts, or uneven wear.
  • Perform basic wheel alignments to ensure proper vehicle handling and tire longevity.
  • Maintain and calibrate tire service equipment, such as tire changers and balancers.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are in good working condition.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling tires and operating equipment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Stay informed about new tire technologies, brands, and products.
  • Provide customers with information on tire options based on their vehicle and driving needs.
  • Lift and move heavy tires and equipment.
  • Stand for extended periods during the workday.
