Industrial Painter

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or vocational training in painting, coating, or related field
• Certification in blasting/painting (e.g., NACE, SSPC, or equivalent) is an advantage
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in shipyard, offshore, or industrial painting
• Knowledge of surface preparation standards (e.g., SA 2.5, SA 3)
• Familiarity with marine coatings and painting systems
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments
• Attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Ability to operate blasting and painting equipment safely
• Knowledge of safety procedures and hazard control
• Teamwork and good communication skills
• Time management and ability to meet deadlines

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for surface preparation and coating application on ships, marine structures, and industrial structures. The role ensures that all surfaces are properly cleaned, treated, and painted to protect against corrosion, wear, and environmental damage.
• Perform abrasive blast cleaning (sandblasting or grit blasting) to remove rust, old paint, and contaminants from metal surfaces
• Prepare surfaces according to required standards (e.g., cleaning, masking, degreasing)
• Apply protective coatings and marine paints using spray guns, rollers, or brushes
• Mix and prepare paints and coatings based on manufacturer specifications
• Ensure correct thickness and uniformity of coatings (DFT – Dry Film Thickness)
• Conduct touch-ups and repairs on coated surfaces
• Follow project specifications, technical drawings, and coating procedures
• Maintain blasting and painting equipment in good working condition
• Observe health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper use of PPE
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, or dry dock environments as required
• Coordinate with supervisors, inspectors, and other trades (e.g., welders, fitters)

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
