PLASTIC MOLD OPERATOR

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• 7-10 years of experience in mold making or plastic molding operations.
• Proven experience in blow mold tooling construction, including the ability to perform original work and repairs independently.
• Skilled at operating various mold-making equipment (milling machines, CNC, lathes, grinders, EDM).
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, charts, and tables.
• Knowledge of mold-making tools, machining methods, and typical mold tooling materials.
• Proficient in bench work including polishing, matching, stoning, and assembly.
• Good knowledge of plastic materials and understanding of quality standards.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors across the spectrum.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to work overtime (including weekends) as required to meet production deadlines.
• Physically and mentally capable of performing all tasks and responsibilities associated with the job

Responsibilities:

• Operate various mold making machinery including milling machines, lathes, grinders, EDM machines, CNC machines, etc.
• Construct, repair, and maintain molds independently, ensuring high-quality results in the molding process.
• Read and interpret blueprints, charts, and tables to determine mold specifications and quality standards.
• Perform bench work, including matching, polishing, stoning, and assembly of molds.
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for mold operations and production processes.
• Supervise and provide technical guidance to the production team, ensuring efficient production and quality control.
• Develop and document effective processes for manufacturing plastic parts that meet design and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Make necessary adjustments to meet product specifications, and maintain mold functionality and quality.
• Assist in preventive maintenance of molds, necks, blow pins, and other mechanical parts.
• Repair and replace pneumatic and hydraulic lines as needed.
• Prepare maintenance request forms and document equipment repairs.
• Maintain daily production reports, including information on rejects, regrinds, line efficiencies, and other relevant data.
• Work with the Assembly department to ensure timely product delivery.
