Qualifications:

To qualify for this job you must have:

• Minimum of 5 years’ working experience as a Baker in a professional kitchen environment.
• Strong baking skills (from scratch) and worked with a large product range such as sourdoughs, artisan loaves, Turkish rolls, sandwich loaves.
• Knowledgeable in various baking equipment – dough sheeter/dough break, stove up, mixers, rack and deck oven, depositor, biscuit machine, scales, etc.
• Strong attention to details and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Physical ability and strength (manual dexterity, lifting, bending, twisting, reaching)
• Good understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations related to bakery operations
• Good verbal and written English communication skills
• Be able to provide work references and salary evidence

Responsibilities:

• Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
• Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredient
• Kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods
• Preparing pastry fillings
• Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times
• Coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products
• Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
• Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits
• Emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment
