Purchasing Manager

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in product sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management.

• Strong understanding of retail market trends, customer behaviours, and competitor landscape.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret sales data and make informed buying decisions.
• Leadership qualities to manage and motivate the purchasing team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Excellent IT skills and willingness to learn new systems and make continual improvements keeping up with technological advances.
• Able to travel internationally several times during year to meet with overseas suppliers
• Remuneration package will be commensurate with candidate work experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse market trends, customer data and competitor analysis to identify potential products to stock
• Forecast sales demand and plan inventory levels to optimize stock turnover.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage to prevent overstocking or shortages.
• Implement strategies to minimize excess inventory through promotions or markdown management.
• Source new suppliers and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
• Lead and mentor a small purchasing team.
• Analyse sales data and profitability metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Set pricing strategies to maximize profit margins while remaining competitive.
• Lead marketing staff to align product launches with promotional campaigns
