SENIOR CHEMIST

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Science related discipline.
• 7 years working in a laboratory environment within the Oil & Gas industry, including 2 years as a Chemist.
• Knowledge of international auditing and compliance regulations including ISO 17025.
• Technical and Business Skills
• Fluent in English with demonstrated verbal and written skills.
• Strong attention to detail and high level analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Computer skills, including MS Office Suite, and experience with computerized laboratory information management systems and related databases.
• Experience with coaching and training.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a high degree of specialist knowledge and analytical competence to the testing and analytical processes undertaken at the QG Laboratory.
• Regular contact with various contacts within Laboratory Division.
• Occasional contact with RLTO, Refinery, Maintenance, Shutdown and Logistics, Supply, and Cost and Contracts departments.
• Occasional contact with vendors and 3rd party services providers
• Context of the role relates to the role serving as the recognized expert for chemical analysis within field of specialization.
• Responsible for understanding, implementing, and assuring Laboratory operations adhere to the ISO 17025 system.
• Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety, Health and Environment and Quality policies, regulations and standards.
• Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is a condition of employment for expatriate employees. Firewall Compliance
• Ensure all activities undertaken comply with anti – trust and competition laws and the Company firewall policies and procedures.
• Ensure all activities undertaken within designated areas of specialization are conducted following ISO standards and Company policies and procedures.
• Review results for routine and non-routine samples in the LIMS and ensure results match with raw data.
• Review certificates of quality for all products and shipments and ensure the results are traceable.
• Ensure the availability of laboratory chemicals and standards, certified reference material (CRM), glassware, and spare parts.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment according to schedule and prepare laboratory chemical reagents and standard solutions with standardization.
• Oversee and ensure implementation of quality control systems and ensure oversight for proficiency testing (PT) samples and the preparation of control samples.
• Ensure control charts are updated, nonconformities are closed out, laboratory environmental conditions are monitored, and new equipment is validated.
• Follow up on American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) tracking and prepare standard update forms.
• Prepare, update and review Laboratory procedures to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date.
• Evaluate the competency of new laboratory technicians and update competency tracking system.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
