HSSE Advisor

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields is typically required. Specializations or coursework in HSSE management, regulations, compliance, risk management, and related disciplines can provide foundational knowledge and expertise.
• Certifications:
  • NEBOSH Certifications: Certifications such as the NEBOSH National or International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety can be valuable for roles involving HSSE advisory, guidance, and compliance.
  • OSHA Certifications: Certifications from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or other relevant certifications focused on safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards.

Professional Experience:

• Industry Experience: Relevant experience in HSSE advisory, management, consulting, or related roles within industries such as oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, energy, or other relevant sectors. Experience in providing HSSE advice, guidance, support, and expertise to organizations, projects, or teams is essential.
• Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of HSSE principles, regulations, standards, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation techniques, emergency response planning, and industry-specific HSSE requirements.

Skills and Competencies:

• HSSE Expertise: In-depth knowledge and expertise in health, safety, security, and environmental management systems, practices, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to the specific industry or sector.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, with the capacity to articulate complex HSSE-related information clearly, provide advice, guidance, and recommendations, facilitate discussions, and interact effectively with stakeholders, including colleagues, contractors, vendors, regulators, and management.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities to assess HSSE issues, identify root causes, evaluate potential impacts, and develop and implement effective solutions, strategies, and controls to address HSSE challenges and risks.
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, collaborate on HSSE initiatives, projects, or programs, share expertise, provide support, and contribute to achieving HSSE objectives and organizational goals.
