Network Engineer I – Network Reliability
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent technical certifications in telecom/communications
- 4+ years troubleshooting complex network designs in a large, multi-site service provider environment. Skilled in lab testing, quality assurance, and proof-of-concept evaluations
- Experience with routing protocols, network monitoring tools, packet analysis, and Visio diagramming. Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work any shift, weekends, and variable schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license required
- Stand, sit, walk, or travel to various sites for extended periods
- Lift up to 25 lbs; work indoors in varying conditions (dust, noise, heat, poor lighting)
- May require nights, weekends, and extended hours to meet operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and integrate routers, switches, and optical transport systems.
- Provision network services across multiple domains and technologies
- Monitor performance and address service impacts using tools like SolarWinds and IBM Netcool
- Troubleshoot Tier-2 issues for voice, mobile, IPTV, and data services
- Support routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and multicast for IPTV
- Perform fiber testing, optical loss measurements, and basic maintenance on DWDM/SONET systems
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventory, and documentation
- Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues.
