Estimator
Qualifications:
- Must be Bachelor of Project Management or Bachelor of Construction Management
- Proficiency in mathematics, statistics and data analysis
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Report writing and strategic planning skills
- Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects
- Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional time management skills
Responsibilities:
- Analyse costs for materials, labour, equipment, and resources required for the successful completion of projects
- Budget Preparation: Draft detailed budgets based on project scope, client specifications, and industry standards.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare competitive, accurate, and realistic bids for project tenders
- Assess the financial feasibility of projects, providing stakeholders with key insights and recommendations.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the project remains within budget and on schedule
- Track and monitor project costs throughout the project lifecycle, adjusting estimates and budgets as necessary.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to understand project requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Provide clear communication to clients regarding cost estimates and adjustments, ensuring transparency and fostering trust.
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs plus ensuring these outcomes
- Measure project performance using company systems, tools, and industry standard techniques.
- Undertake Client and Stakeholder Management, Quality Control and carry out spot staff checks to ensure total compliance.
- Report and escalate to company management as needed
- Perform risk management to minimize the company exposure any potential or unnecessary risks.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with third parties’ consultants and suppliers
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation using company systems/software and industry standard techniques.
- Ensure the company’s IBMS (Integrated Business Management System) policies and procedures are followed to meet the company’s Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Standards while also assisting other colleagues with compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in capacity development approaches and the ability to utilise a range of techniques to increase the confidence, skills and service delivery standards of colleagues, counterparts, and associated company.
- High-level interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, and an excellent ability to develop and maintain results-focused client, consultant, and stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skill
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and contribute to sustainable outcomes including advocacy and the capacity to negotiate effective solutions.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Demonstrated ability to work sensitively in a complex cross cultural operating environment.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and in supporting both technical and administrative staff through organisational change.
- Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in cost estimation and project management, with a comprehensive understanding of both Australian and international building and construction projects.
- In particular, demonstrated experience within Donor Funded International Development Aid would be highly regarded
