Shore Based Electro Technical Officer
Qualifications:
- STCW-compliant certification as an Electro-Technical Officer is preferred but not mandatory for shore-based roles.
- In-depth knowledge of shipboard electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, and control systems
- Proficiency in troubleshooting cranes, engine control systems, PLCs, and automation technology.
- At least 5 years of experience as an ETO, preferably on multi-purpose vessels with advanced crane and engine control systems
- Demonstrated experience with hands-on troubleshooting and repairs in time-critical situations.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with ship crews and shore-based teams.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to vessels experiencing critical electrical or electronic issues, providing handson troubleshooting and repair services.
- Analyze and resolve faults in shipboard systems, including cranes, engine controls, automation, and power distribution
- Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify issues in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), sensors, and other electronic control systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic components of shipboard cranes, including motors, power systems, and control panels
- Troubleshoot and repair engine control systems, including electronic governors, alarm panels, and automation circuits
- Ensure proper calibration and functioning of monitoring devices such as pressure sensors, temperature gauges, and load monitors
- Provide remote technical guidance to onboard teams for troubleshooting electrical and electronic problems.
- Liaise with the Chief Engineer and vessel management teams to develop strategies for system upgrades and long-term solutions.
- Travel to vessels as required to provide emergency technical support, often under timesensitive conditions.
- Coordinate with ship crews and shipyards during planned maintenance or repairs to ensure smooth execution of work.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance schedules for electrical and electronic systems to minimize downtime.
- Conduct periodic inspections of vessels to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Ensure that repairs and maintenance activities comply with international maritime regulations and classification society standards.
- Promote adherence to safety protocols when working on high-voltage systems and critical shipboard equipment
- Maintain detailed records of all troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections performed during deployments.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for system upgrades or replacements
