Butcher

Qualifications:

• Must have experience in a supermarket and/or huge meat shop as a Butcher.
• Strong communication skills.
• Able to read and follow product specification guidelines
• Able to count change back to customers.
• Trainable or have cash register experience.
• Able to work with cleaning chemicals
• Able to work holidays, weekends, or any shift needed
• Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices

Responsibilities:

• Slicing, trimming, and portioning various types of meat (beef, pork, chicken, lamb, etc.) according to customer preferences or store standards.
• Preparing custom cuts of meat for customers as requested.
• Grinding meat for sausages or other products.
• Breaking down larger cuts of meat into smaller, saleable portions.
• Providing excellent customer service, including offering advice on cooking methods, cuts of meat, and preparation tips.
• Taking custom meat orders and preparing them to specification.
• Answering customer questions about meat products, including quality, origin, and pricing.
• Setting up and maintaining attractive, organized meat displays in the refrigerated cases.
• Ensuring proper labeling, including weight, pricing, and any necessary cooking or preparation instructions.
• Replenishing the meat case as needed, ensuring freshness and quality.
• Following all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of meat.
• Maintaining cleanliness of the work area, tools, and equipment.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety standards and regulations, including temperature control and safe handling of raw meats.
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with inventory control by tracking product turnover and shelf life.
• Ordering meat products from suppliers and keeping track of deliveries.
• Packaging meats for sale in appropriate portions and ensuring correct labeling.
• Vacuum-sealing products or wrapping meats as required
