Systems Engineer
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of L3 support experience in IT Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and related services.
- Experience with modern wired and wireless networking technologies – DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs, VLANs, Routing, and Switching such as HPE, Aruba and Ubiquiti.
- Experience in working within a high performing Managed Services, Managed IT Services, or IT Service delivery environment.
- Confidence with supporting customers in Microsoft 365 including Licensing, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.
- Experience with managing Windows Server and Azure Cloud infrastructure including Active Directory, Azure AD, Azure AD Connect and Hybrid Exchange.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Experience with Cloud technologies (Office 365, Exchange Online, Azure)
- Experience with modern backup and DR solutions, preferably Veeam and ArcServe Cloud Backup
- Scripting skills with PowerShell for automation and system management.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong understanding of networking, including routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL, IIS, and security tools (Defender, Sentinel, etc.). Familiarity with Linux system administration.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a knack for developing innovative solutions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to engage effectively with customers and internal stakeholders at various levels.
- Industry Certifications are a plus; Microsoft, Linux, Cisco and Apple are also beneficial.
- Current IT certifications are expected\ – ITIL and ITSM certified
Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure / Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability / Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
- Monitoring and maintain networks (LAN, SD-WAN, WLAN) and security appliances (Firewalls, IPS, Netscaler etc) / Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies / Automate tasks to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention
- Pro-active monitoring and addressing of vulnerabilities / Implementing best practices for system security and data backups.
- Maintain and Update Servers and Hyper-V, VMware Infrastructure / Participate in the After-hours on-call IT services
