Inventory Accountant

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in inventory accounting in retail and distribution of FMCG.
• Experienced in management information systems such as Oracle, Peachtree, Quickbooks, etc
• Degree or other qualification in accounting with active CPA registration
• Good communication skills.
• Able to train up staff and enforce company rules and regulations.
• Well organized and active attitude.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monitoring all inventory transactions in the general ledger.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and statutory bodies .
• Prepare budgets, manage cashflow and monitor performance against budget.
• Costing and tracking of inventory.
• Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory.
• Recording costs of raw materials, overheads and variable costs.
• Must understand different types of inventory methods–such as the average cost method; last-in, first-out (LIFO); and first-in, first-out (FIFO)–and assist in choosing the best method for the company.
• Determining inventory costs so that other divisions can determine selling prices for goods.
• Assist with regular audits for all departments.
• Analyzing reports to reduce costs and track variances to eliminate fraud and mis-management.
• Reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger
• Preparing monthly journal entries as needed Special projects as required
• Organizing physical inventory counts of all inventory on hand at least once a year.
• Oversee this entire process and ensures that it is done efficiently and accurately.
• Train national accounts staff to a high professional standard in all sections.
