WELDER

Qualifications:

• Training & minimum 3 years experience in welding work preferably in welding of pressure vessel, heat exchangers, tank, piping at various welding positions or Minimum 5 years with hands on experience as welder qualified as per ASME sec IX / AWS-D1.1
• Knowledgeable to understand welding procedure requirements.
• Knowledge of weld defects such as undercuts, porosity, cracks, lack of fusion reinforcement etc.
• Knowledge of using the welding machine electrical & diesel operated
• Knowledge of English speaking & reading
• The welder shall be categories as welder A, B & C by concerned authorized person based on followings of various process such as SMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW, Automatic, orbital welding, pulse MIG, PULSE GTAW etc. for various material combination.
• Welder A: Should have 4 years experience in 6 G position=GTAW + SMAW, GTAW+FCAW, 6G position + machine welding =GTAW + SAW, Machine welding, orbital welding process Material CS, SS CuNi & exotic materials such as Alloy 20, incolly, inconel, Al etc
• Welder B: Should have 2 years experience in 6 G position=GTAW + SMAW, GTAW+FCAW or SMAW + SAW materials CS, SS, CuNi etc.
• Welder C: Should have 1 year welding experience in 6G OR 3G & 1F + 2F position & in SMAW or GTAW + SMAW process with CS materials

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding work according to welding procedure, weld map & drawings.
• Perform defect free welding to suit the welding standard requirement.
• Perform the welding work according to applicable approved welding process as per weld map, drawing & WPS.
• Arrangement of welding material to perform welding such as arrangement of welding cables, quivers, machine, welding consumables, tools and safety gears at work place
• Handling of welding electrodes, consumables as per the general guideline of electrode manufacturer to perform welding work as per WPS.
• Marking of welders symbols on welding performed by self as per WQT.
• Care should be taken during welding to avoid any welding distortion.
• Maintain the parameters as specified on welding procedure (WPS),
• Dress –up & cleaning of weld joint & nearby area during welding,
• Maintaining the house keeping at related work area
• Reporting to Supervisor immediately if any breakdown of machine / Problem in performing welding to avoid any hold up in welding work,
• Marking of Defective welding area and rectification of the same
• Any visual defect on weld or near by surface such as undercuts, scratch mark temporary tacks should be attended during welding process itself & before offering for inspection.
• Return of unused welding consumables to tool room, rolling of welding cables in proper fashion & clean up any dust on welding machine at end of the shift.
• Welding buds should be stored in trash bin to minimize the house keeping work.
