PIPE FITTER

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or higher with NCII Certificate
• Must have ability to read blueprints, isometric drawings, and schematics. Skilled in measuring, cutting, bending, and threading pipes
• Must have experience with PVC, copper, carbon steel, and stainless-steel pipes. Knowledge of pipe systems: steam, gas, water, air, and hydraulics.
• Familiar with hand and power tools (grinders, pipe threaders, etc.)
• Able to work in tight spaces, heights, and industrial environments
• Understands and follows OSHA safety standards
• NCCER certification or apprenticeship (preferred but not always required)

Responsibilities:

• Lay out, fabricate, install, modify, and repair shipboard piping systems (e.g., steam, hydraulic, fuel, water, sewage, air).
• Interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
• Cut, thread, and bend pipe using hand and power tools or machines.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, and fittings using clamps, brackets, and welding or soldering equipment.
• Hydro-test systems for leaks and pressure integrity.
• Work with various piping materials including copper-nickel, stainless steel, carbon steel, and PVC.
• Collaborate with welders, shipfitters, and engineers to ensure correct installation and alignment.
• Follow all OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard safety regulations and use proper PPE.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and tools.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing existing pipe systems.
