Light and Power Technician
Qualifications:
- 3-4 years tour or stage production experience
- Expertise in stage lighting and pro audio systems
- Strong programming skills for lighting and pro audio systems
- Experience with basic video systems
- Proficient in industry-standard lighting software
- College Degree in Technical Theater, Lighting Design, or related field
- Experience with advanced lighting control boards
- Knowledge of DMX protocols and networking
- Background in live event production
- Certification in relevant safety protocols
- The ability to lift 75 lbs is the physical capacity to safely handle that weight, often required in physically demanding jobs.
- Can work in environments with: Moderate to loud noise levels, Extreme lighting changes, Strobes and moving lights,
- Capable of wearing radio earpiece during shifts,
- Ability to work at heights, Extended periods of standing/walking
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive lighting systems and solutions
- Create lighting plot plans and technical documentation
- Develop channel management systems and control interfaces
- Optimize routing algorithms for complex lighting setups
- Program and operate lighting control boards and systems
- Execute load in or out of band and rental equipment
- Set up and breakdown event equipment
- Perform lighting adjustments per hour to specifications
- Operate spotlights and manage show operations
- Support production needs throughout the venue
- Coordinate with visiting production crews
- Make real time lighting adjustments during performances
- Maintain and repair lighting equipment
- Managing inventory and equipment documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety standards
- Perform routine maintenance checks
- Assist audio crew with equipment setup
- Work with stakeholders and creative lighting designs
- Coordinate with electricians and technical staff
- Contribute to lighting technology improvements
- Stay current with industry trends and techniques
- Train and mentor junior technicians
