Carpenter

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in concrete grinding, polishing, masonry, carpentry, or related construction work.
• Strong understanding of concrete repair, finishing techniques, patching, leveling, and subfloor preparation.
• Knowledge of diamond and resin tooling for different concrete hardness levels (advantage).
• Experience operating planetary grinders (e.g., Husqvarna PG680) or similar machines.
• Familiarity with epoxy coatings, sealers, densifiers, and concrete surface treatments
• Ability to perform basic carpentry tasks (minor formwork, timber removal, flooring-related carpentry support).
• Ability to perform masonry tasks such as skim coating, crack repair, mortar application, and concrete finishing.
• Valid manual driver’s license (required).
• Ability to tow trailers and drive vans or small trucks.
• Must have completed at least a 1-year vocational course or at least 1 year of college.
• Excellent English communication skills
• Physically fit, hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious
• Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

• Perform concrete surface preparation, repair, leveling, and finishing, including grinding, honing, sealing, and polishing according to project specifications.
• Carry out carpentry-related tasks such as installing temporary flooring protection, assisting in formwork repairs, handling timber flooring demolition, and preparing subfloors prior to finishing work.
• Conduct masonry-related tasks including patching, crack repairs, re-surfacing, skim coating, mortar/compound application, and concrete edge detailing.
• Operate and maintain concrete grinding and polishing equipment (handheld grinders, large planetary machines, remote-control grinders).
• Apply coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, penetrating sealers, densifiers, and curing/sealing compounds.
• Use construction tools and power equipment common to carpentry and masonry (jackhammers, grinders, cutting tools, drills, vacuums, edge tools).
• Perform subfloor preparation for installation or refinishing, ensuring surfaces are level, smooth, and structurally sound.
• Support small carpentry tasks related to flooring transitions, trimming, site protection, and minor framework tasks where required
• Use dust extraction and control systems to maintain safety and cleanliness on job sites
• Drive and transport tools, equipment, machinery, and trailers to various project locations.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order
• Follow construction site safety protocols, quality standards, and job instructions
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients
• Work independently or under supervision depending on site requirements
