Senior VRF Technician (variable refrigerant flow)

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree or technical certification in HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience as a VRF technician, with a proven track record of advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving
• In-depth knowledge of VRF system components, control sequences, and diagnostic procedures
• Proficient in using specialized VRF diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve complex issues
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly diagnose and resolve system faults
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities to train and guide junior technicians
• EPA Universal refrigerant handling certification
• VRF manufacturer-specific certifications are highly desirable
• Familiarity with building automation systems and HVAC control integration is an asset

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the installation and commissioning of new VRF systems, ensuring proper system configuration, refrigerant charging, and integration with building controls.
• Perform preventive maintenance on VRF systems, including cleaning, inspecting, and servicing indoor and outdoor units, refrigerant circuits, and control components.
• Expertly diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues with VRF systems, using advanced diagnostics tools and techniques to identify and resolve faults.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior VRF technicians to develop their skills and abilities.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of all VRF system work, including detailed service reports, equipment details, and performance data.
• Collaborate with HVAC engineers, facility managers, and other stakeholders to optimize VRF system performance and energy efficiency.
• Respond to emergency service calls for VRF system failures and work quickly to restore system operation.
• Stay current with the latest VRF technologies, industry best practices, and manufacturer service bulletins.
• Assist in the planning and execution of VRF system upgrades, retrofits, and expansions.
